An interview with Al-Jazeera on the report of Der Spiegel.. I will not defend the murderer of a man or an idea, but the facts and evidence must be conclusive..

The Der Spiegel report that was published by the newspaper on the 23rd of May by the journalist Ali Arkady accusing the Iraqi forces of committing violations in the battle of Mosul is exaggerated and weak, not to mention its ambiguity as Arkadi did not clarify why he remained four months (from September 2016 to early January 2017) with a group that committed “violations, murders and rape”, as he claimed?, as it would’ve been better for him to leave them from the very first day he discovered “their crimes” in order to not to be accused of being a false witness or looking the other way or even be accused of complicity and partnership in these “alleged” crimes, where is he from the journalistic charters of honor ?? Or was he perhaps hypnotized.. ?! The writer of the report must answer many questions before anyone wise can consider believing his claims. I absolutely do not defend criminals and murderers here, and I will not allow myself to applaud a murderer of an individual or an idea. But the truth requires further research and investigation to find out the reality of the information mentioned in his report.. In any case, the violation of human rights and dignity does not represent the values of the Iraqi military establishment and the morality of its soldiers’ sacrifices, and it hurts the sacrifices of heroes that gave their lives on the battlefields and stabs them in the back and spoils the blood of the innocent souls that perished under the events, and such acts are condemned by law and by social customs and no one would dare defend or justify such crimes if proven by conclusive concrete evidence to have been committed…
