The Iraqi air raid that targeted ISIS’s sites and warehouses in the Syrian Al-Bukamal on Friday morning February 24th 2017 is considered a turning point in the military and political Iraqi stature, which always kept its distance away from any intervention in what happens at the Syrian land. And if we know that use of the American F16 that Iraq bough is applies to a protocol and rules of which: (Not used for offensive purposes, but defensive ones only. And not used in the internal wars nor outside if the Iraqi land), then we will know that the raid was made with an American green light and approval. The situation here exceeds approval to joined coordination in exchanging information and missions’ execution in the framework of the International Alliance against terrorism. In my opinion, this operation that was in the wake of the American defense minister James Mattis’s visit to Baghdad – and he is one of the hawks of President Trump’s security team – points to the new American strategies in which America moves from the former administration policy which was leading from the back towards sitting behind the wheel in the new Trump’s era, which is close to Gerasimov’s ideology in counting on the local forces in the war against ISIS and terrorism, and that includes supporting allies – Logistically, advisory, and on informational and air levels –, showing that support, decreasing the danger of conflict between allies and friends – the Turkish and the Kurds –, and establishing safe zones in Syria. With that it directs a message to the world saying it has become a main player and events maker and it is no longer a viewer nor an observer them. In the end, USA wants to be a part of a locally funded war with local fighters but victory comes out from the American general’s hat and has the imprint of Donald Trump.
